NEWBURYPORT — Marshal Matthew Simons reports that the Newburyport Police Department arrested a woman following a stabbing incident early Sunday morning.
A WOMAN, AGE 34, of NEWBURYPORT, was arrested and charged with:
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
On Sunday, March 23, at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers responded to a call for medical aid at a Newburyport residence.
Upon arrival on scene, officers located a 46-year-old male suffering from an apparent stab wound.
The male was transported to a Boston hospital via medical helicopter.
Officers arrested a 34-YEAR-OLD WOMAN without incident at the scene. She is currently being held on $100,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Newburyport District Court on Monday.
Newburyport Police have determined this was an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public at this time.
Officers James Allen, Cameron Richmond, Sgt. Ryan Cutter and Det. Dani Sinclair responded on scene. Marshal Simons also would like to recognize Ipswich Police Officer David D’Amico for assisting with the investigation.
“I’m grateful for the quick response and actions of all the first responders involved in this call,” said Marshal Simons. “Everyone worked diligently to bring a volatile situation under control very quickly.”
