Assessor’s Office Conducting Site Inpsections on all Residential and Commercial Properties
NEWBURYPORT — Please be advised that the City of Newburyport is working together with the firm of KRT Appraisal to perform site inspections on all residential and commercial properties within the City of Newburyport.
The MA Department of Revenue requires that all assessors throughout the Commonwealth re-measure and inspect all properties every ten years. The selected properties were chosen because we have not visited them within the past ten years.
The KRT data collectors have been provided with Assessor’s Property Record Cards for selected properties. The data collector’s responsibility is to re-measure the exterior of the buildings and attempt to perform a full interior inspection.
While we recognize that these inspections may be intrusive, we appreciate the cooperation of our taxpayers. It is only with your help that we can assure fair and equitable assessments across the City.
Please be advised that all authorized personnel working for the Assessor’s Office have been issued a notarized letter with photo ID from the Newburyport Police Department, signed by the City Marshal. The letter identifies the name, vehicle, and license plate number of the authorized KRT contractor working on behalf of the Office of the Assessor. Ask to see this letter if someone is at your property and identifies himself as a person collecting data for the Office of the Assessor.
If you have any questions regarding this project or about the identity of an authorized data collector, please call the Office of the Assessor at 978-465-4403 or the Newburyport Police Department at (978) 462-4411.
