Newburyport Police Sergeant Completes FBI Leadership Training, Receives Trilogy Award
NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Mark Murray is pleased to announce that Gregory Whitney of the Newburyport Police Department received the Trilogy Award from the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) following law enforcement leadership training with the organization. Sgt. Whitney is the fourth supervisor on the Newburyport Police staff to receive this award.
The FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award distinguishes exceptional individuals who demonstrate a high level of dedication to their commitment in professional development and leadership skills. Sgt. Whitney completed the trilogy, which includes three, week long, classes on Supervisor Leadership, Command Leadership, and Executive Leadership. Sgt. Whitney completed the third and final week of the series at the Hampton, N.H. Police Department from Oct. 2-6.
Sgt. Whitney has been with the Newburyport Police Department since 2011. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2016, and currently serves as a supervisor on the midnight and evening shifts. Sgt. Whitney is also the Accreditation Manager for the police department.
“I commend Sgt. Whitney for pursuing this training in law enforcement leadership,” Marshal Murray said. “Completing this training has only enhanced Sgt. Whitney’s ability to lead and teach our officers.”
